Mending? Repair? Darning?

Mending? Repair? Darning?

  • Cost of mending can exceed the original garment price, or the price to replace new. It is up to you to decide if repair is worth it! I’m happy to provide more details or answer further questions about types of mends and estimated prices specific to your garment’s condition.

  • Mention if you are local to Bellingham, WA for potential local pick-up and drop-off.

  • Unwashed or poorly washed garments will incur a washing fee or be sent back as-is. Several washes or pocket emptyings may be necessary if you don’t wash your garment often or wear it for messy/dirty activities (wood, metal, ceramics, landscaping, food service, etc). Poorly washed fabric is gross for me to deal with, can harm my sewing machines, and impede the quality/longevity of the mend!

    • Describe the areas you'd like repaired in detail.
Clearly state if there are distressed areas you don’t want mended.

    • Describe the aesthetics/style of repair you’re interested in. You can refer to previous mends I’ve done. Discreet vs visible, machine vs hand mended, etc.

    • Describe your goals in seeking repairs. Is this a garment with sentimental value, everyday workwear you want to prolong the life of, or something else entirely? Examples:

      • The lowest cost repair to maintain garment functionality.

      • A full blown and meticulous overhaul.

      • Somewhere in between - functionality with a little extra care or pizzazz.

    • Garment or item photo guidelines:

      • Photograph in a well-lit environment.

      • Clearly denote each area on the garment you want repaired. You can physically point in the images, add safety pins, or digitally add circles or arrows after taking the photo.
